Daily Loss Limit (DLL): pause or fail
How much the account can lose in one session and what happens when it gets there: it pauses until the next session or fails.
Your plan's values
The Daily Loss Limit (DLL) is how much the account can lose in a single session. On EXL Flex 50K, it is US$ 1,000.
- In the evaluation
- US$ 1,000
- pauses until the next session
- In the funded account
- US$ 1,000
- pauses until the next session
- Max Loss Limit
- US$ 2,000
- the total limit, which applies alongside it
Why it exists
Every trader has bad days. The daily limit keeps a bad day from turning into a big loss: it makes you stop, cool off and come back in the next session. It's the same daily stop professional traders use.
Pause or fail?
- In Sprint, hitting the daily limit fails the evaluation. With the Protected Stop add-on, the account only pauses until the next session.
- In Flex and Pro, the account pauses until the next session, and you come back as usual.
- In the funded account of every tier, Direct included, the daily limit only pauses.
- With the No daily stop add-on (Flex and Pro), there is no daily limit, in the evaluation or the funded account. Only the Max Loss Limit applies.
How the day's loss is counted
- The day is the CME session, which rolls over at 5 p.m. Chicago time, not the calendar day.
- The day's loss includes the commission on executed orders.
- The limit applies during the session: reaching it in the middle of the day already counts.
- In the next session, the daily limit starts over.
Example
On the 50K: in a bad session, the day's loss reaches US$ 1,000. The account is paused and can trade again in the next session. That day's loss still counts towards the US$ 2,000 Max Loss Limit.
What happens if you hit it
Straight talk
The account is paused until the next session. It is not failed, but the day's loss counts towards the Max Loss Limit.
